Don't Neglect your Windows!

Windows can go one of two ways- people either forget to address them entirely, or they’re one of the first things that get tackled out of necessity.

When they’re forgotten, though, it’s such a missed opportunity to add that final, essential layer to a room. A bare window truly hurts my soul! Even if privacy isn’t a concern and you’re going for a minimal look, adding drapery panels or little cafe curtains to frame the window makes all the difference. That simple addition brings texture, softness, and warmth to a space that would otherwise feel cold and sterile with naked windows.

When we moved into our own home, one of the first things I purchased was a cheap roman shade for our primary bathroom. Our bathroom faces the neighborhood and the window is quite large so you better believe we needed something quick. Without knowing what design direction I was going for, I purchased something on the cheap knowing that I would be replacing it at some point.

Well, that time finally came, and after narrowing down many woven wood shade samples, I landed on one with a delicate stripe pattern. I’m in love. If you’ve been here for a while, you already know about my lifelong love affair with stripes.

The new shade is lined for added privacy, which is essential for bathroom use both in the evening (and honestly, during the day too!). It ties in beautifully with everything else in our home, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice.

Need help selecting shades, curtains, or any other window treatments? I’ve guided many clients through this process, and I currently have several on order for a local project. Feel free to reach out, I’d love to help.
